The Classic Circular Walk Series has been carefully devised to incorporate breathtaking views, country parks, woodland, spectacular mountain scenery and reminders of Caerphilly County Borough’s rich and ancient past.

The Ridgeway walk follows a mixture of footpaths, bridleways and cycleways with only short sections on roads or lanes. The paths are mainly dry in summer but can get wet and boggy in winter and after wet weather.
The path is waymarked with the distinctive blue and green Ridgeway Walk logo.Walking the route in one day will take about 12 hours. The route is described assuming you are walking in an anticlockwise direction. Public transport information is included on the maps but you’ll need to check times of services beforehand.
The weather in this area is changeable so you’ll need waterproofs and
stout footwear whatever the weather.
There are plenty of pubs and shops along the route or close by, but it’s always advisable to take food and plenty to drink. Please follow the countryside code as you walk and remember to take your camera and binoculars. Leave nothing but footprints; take nothing but memories!

Wales Valleys Walking Festival
5th - 21st September 2008
This year’s Wales Valleys Walking Festival is even bigger and better with over 40 guided walks spread over 2 weeks in early Autumn.
So why should the Valleys be your walking festival of choice for 2008?
Well, for starters, it’s your opportunity to see just how spectacular the valleys of today are. These days you won’t see a coal mine (unless it happens to be one of our tourism attractions!) but you will see a unique roller-coaster landscape of hills and vales dotted with friendly towns and villages.
Also we have put together a range of walks to suit all abilities and tastes. If you are new to walking and want to go for a leisurely stroll, then ‘Stepping Out’ marked walks are for you.
Those of you who have clocked up the miles can take a look at ‘Picking Up the Pace’ and ‘There’s No Stopping You’ walks.
No Festival would be complete without some walks designed for seasoned walkers, so take a look at those marked ‘Striding Out’. All of this with experienced and enthusiastic leaders proud to share their valleys with you.
Happy walking!
